Iseo and Sarnico are, in our opinion, two of the most beautiful and lively places around Lake Iseo. Hotels and Accommodations in Lovere, Pisogne, and Surroundings
Lovere is, in our opinion, the most beautiful town on this side of Lake Iseo. It has a charming historic center, cozy squares, lake views, and plenty of spots to sit down for a coffee or gelato. It’s lively, but still relaxed, so you won’t find the big crowds you get at the more famous lakes.
Pisogne is also a great place to stay if you prefer being close to the lake, with enough restaurants around and a convenient location for exploring the area.
We personally stayed just outside Lovere in Sovere, a cute and truly Italian mountain village about a 10-minute drive away. You’re surrounded by locals, it’s quieter, and you often get a bit more space, while still being back at Lake Iseo in no time. A perfect base if you want to combine lake days with mountain views.

Tips for Booking Accommodations at Lake Iseo
Here are a few things worth keeping in mind when booking your stay:
- Choose Your Base:
One of the best things about Lake Iseo is that you can explore the entire area from just one base. The key is choosing the vibe that fits your trip.
Want lively towns with lots of restaurants? Iseo and Lovere are great options. Prefer something quieter and more local? Take a look at Pisogne or Sulzano. And if you love that real Italian mountain village vibe, Sovere is a fun choice, you’re still only about 10 to 15 minutes from the lake.
And of course, there’s the unique option: staying on Monte Isola, the largest lake island in Europe. - Visiting Monte Isola: You’ve Got More Options Than You Think:
You can visit Monte Isola from several places around the lake. The most practical departure points are Sulzano and Sale Marasino, since ferries run most frequently there. From towns like Iseo, ferries also operate, but they usually run less often.
Our tip: quickly check the current ferry schedule before you go, it saves a lot of searching and stress on the day itself. - Parking (Seriously, Pay Attention Here):
Parking around Lake Iseo can be a bit… Italian. Especially near the water, spaces can be limited, and it’s not always immediately clear what’s free vs. paid parking.
Our tip: use Google Maps in advance to save a few parking options near your destination. That way you always have a Plan B if the first spot is full (and you avoid doing endless loops with hungry kids in the back seat). - Book Early for High Season:
Especially for July and August. Prices go up quickly and the best places tend to sell out first. - Air Conditioning Isn’t Always a Given:
Northern Italy can get seriously hot in summer, but AC isn’t included everywhere. Definitely double-check this before booking, especially if you’re traveling with kids (or if you simply want to sleep without melting).
