Put on your walking shoes and head to the second-longest suspension bridge in the country. The 360-meter-long Geierlay Bridge takes you high above the Hunsr\u00fcck valley with stunning views all around. In this guide we share all our tips, from parking and walking routes to visiting with kids and places to stay nearby.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-is-the-geierlay-bridge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is the Geierlay Bridge?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The H\u00e4ngeseilbr\u00fccke Geierlay is the second-longest suspension bridge in Germany, connecting the villages of M\u00f6rsdorf and Sosberg. Built in the style of Nepalese hanging bridges, it opened in 2015 and has since become a popular attraction. Expect some crowds, especially during weekends and holidays.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Quick facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list pk-list-styled\">\n<li><strong>Length:<\/strong> 360 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Height:<\/strong> 100 meters above the ground<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Width:<\/strong> 85 cm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accessibility:<\/strong> suitable for children, dogs, strollers, bikes (walked across), and even wheelchairs on quieter days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re afraid of heights, this might not be your thing. The bridge sways a little and hangs 100 meters above the valley. But it\u2019s completely safe and fun for all ages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"how-to-get-to-the-geierlay-bridge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Get to the Geierlay Bridge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Set your navigation to the village of M\u00f6rsdorf. A useful address is the visitor center: Kastellauner Strasse 23, 56290 M\u00f6rsdorf. From central Limburg it took us about 2.5 hours by car.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"parking-at-the-geierlay-bridge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Parking at the Geierlay Bridge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can\u2019t park directly next to the bridge, so you\u2019ll need to leave your car in <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/FNqR4HUcbaf71Cpv6\">M\u00f6rsdorf<\/a><strong> <\/strong>or <a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/u7JW5mTr3BoowmNJ8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sosberg<\/a>. There are four official parking lots, each with pros and cons: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list pk-list-styled\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/jrEvVPRMpGnidSHb8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">P1<\/a>: \u20ac10 for 4 hours. Closest option, still a 1.8 km walk. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/uL5S2JdRrtT8hime8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">P2<\/a>: \u20ac8 for 4 hours, \u20ac18 for 24 hours (also good for camper vans). About 2 km to the bridge. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/jPd9SsMzcenNEAZ36\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">P3<\/a>: \u20ac6 for 4 hours, then \u20ac2 per extra hour. Slightly further away than P2. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/maps.app.goo.gl\/oc2wQwniD7jdjBA66\">P4<\/a>: free, but 3.3 km walk. Only fun if you\u2019re up for a longer hike. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"pk-alert pk-alert-success pk-alert-multiline\" role=\"alert\" >\n<p><b>Our tip:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We parked at P2, which worked perfectly. From there it\u2019s about a 20\u201330 minute walk.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"walking-routes-to-the-geierlay-bridge\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Walking Routes to the Geierlay Bridge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two main routes from M\u00f6rsdorf:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list pk-list-styled\">\n<li><strong>Short route (1,8 km)<\/strong>:<br>A paved path, great for strollers or wheelchairs. Along the way you\u2019ll find small playgrounds, perfect for kids to take a break. This is the easiest option.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Long route (6,6 km)<\/strong>:<br>A hiking trail through the forest, going under the bridge and looping back. A beautiful route and fun with older kids, but not suitable for strollers.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc49 We accidentally took part of the long route with a buggy, and it was a disaster. After a steep uphill struggle we had to turn around. We visited on a Friday and had the bridge almost to ourselves. Stroller parked at the side, kids by the hand, and off we went.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We only walked halfway across, stopping to take photos and videos. The views were incredible. The swaying made it extra exciting, but our kids loved every second.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can cross all the way to the other side and continue walking, or simply head back the same way. Absolutely. Our daughters thought it was one big adventure.
