In the summer of 2025 we took our car through Sweden, a country that had been on our bucket list for years. It felt right from day one. We drove past small coastal towns with wooden houses, stopped in Gothenburg and Stockholm for coffee, playgrounds and short walks, and kept finding lakes and little islands that were honestly beautiful to see.
The kids had fun every day. Fun theme parks for a full day out, open air museums that were playful and interesting at the same time, docks to jump from, and we now fully understand what Swedes mean when they say fika.
For us it was a great mix of lively cities, calm nature and lots of places where you can stop without a tight plan and still find something nice. In the articles below we share our favorite spots, practical tips for a road trip with kids and the stops we would happily repeat on a future trip.
